Like many around the world, we have been shocked and saddened by the death of George Floyd. We understand the anger and frustration of those seeking answers and nothing must stand in the way of the judicial process providing that and delivering accountability.
PFEW strongly condemns discrimination of any kind; it is not acceptable anywhere in any society.
In the UK, we police by consent and our officers have strong links with the communities they serve. We have seen that in the professional and understanding approach of officers dealing with the largely peaceful demonstrations; even when dealing with the outbreaks of public disorder that followed. However, violence should never be seen as a solution. Our members will continue to work as hard as they can to allow public rights and freedom of expression, while upholding the law.
