Nottinghamshire Police Federation

Bravery Awards nominees wished 'good luck' by Fed chair

7 July 2023

Nottinghamshire Police Federation chair Simon Riley has sent a good luck message to two branch members who are up for a national bravery award.

Sergeant Dan Griffin and student officer Amy Pannell have been nominated for the Police Federation’s Bravery Award after putting their lives at risk to tackle a violent offender.

Dan was nominated after being stabbed multiple times by the attacker and credits his PPE, training and teamwork for saving his life, while Amy’s actions in protecting her colleague and helping to detain the offender earned her a nomination.

Simon said: “Dan and Amy lived through a traumatic experience that you hope as police officers, will never happen.

“Dan was literally fighting for his life with the help of Amy, and they displayed steely grit, determination and courage to overcome a hugely challenging set of circumstances until support arrived.

“They risked their lives to ensure the community was kept safe and they’re thoroughly deserving of their nomination.

“I wish them all the best for the awards evening.”

The national Police Bravery Awards take place on Thursday 13 July.
