H1 process

This can be instigated by management if an officer is deemed to be unable to perform their ordinary duties but is reluctant to apply for IHR voluntarily.

A report on the health condition of the officer and background will be submitted by HR seeking for approval to refer to the SMP. If accepted this will then be forwarded to the Force Medical Adviser and relevant reports will be collated.

The officer’s consent regarding medical disclosure will be requested and the officer will receive a copy of relevant reports. The procedure is then essentially as with other cases.

Officers not members of any police pension scheme will be progressed via the sickness procedure and/or Unsatisfactory Performance Procedure.
