Nottinghamshire Police Federation

Summer magazine is out now

28 June 2023

Read how a Nottinghamshire Police Federation member who was stabbed multiple times while tackling a violent offender has been nominated for a national bravery award in the latest edition of the branch’s online magazine Front Line.

Sergeant Dan Griffin tells how his PPE, his training and his colleague, student officer Amy Pannell, saved his life.

And the pair talk about being nominated for a Police Bravery Award for their actions that night.

Also in the summer edition of Front Line, branch chair Simon Riley discusses the issues facing policing, including public trust in the service, conduct and dismissal, and pay and conditions.

There’s a focus on the new Police Covenant and calls from national Federation deputy chair Tiff Lynch for an urgent return to community policing.

The magazine also features Alfie Russell, who is training to be a regular officer after joining the Force following his experience as a Cadet and wants to inspire other youngsters to go into policing.

And there’s a feature on Fed member and former Nottingham Forest captain Jemma Connor-Iommi, who is the driving force behind a community football tournament attended by more than 1,700 children.
