Nottinghamshire Police Federation

Help the PTC step by step

13 April 2023

Take part in a month-long step challenge and raise money for the Police Treatment Centres (PTC) while improving your fitness.

The PTC is running its Big Step Challenge from 15 May to 14 June to get people active and to generate funds for its work.

Nottinghamshire Police Federation chair Simon Riley said: “The Big Step Challenge is a great way to improve your fitness and wellbeing and to raise much-needed funds for the Police Treatment Centres.

“You could take on the challenge on your own or as part of a team – and there are prizes for the highest fundraisers.

“The PTC does incredible work for the policing family. Each year it helps around 4,000 serving and retired officers so it’s great to have the chance to be able to support its work.”

Organisers of the Big Step Challenge have set three targets. Choose from the 250,000 steps of the Gentle Stepper, the 500,000 steps of the Middle Stepper or the 750,000 steps of the Top Stepper.

Entry is free but those who take part are asked to raise a minimum of £30 for the PTC.

Each year it costs £6.5 million to run the Police Treatment Centres in Harrogate in North Yorkshire and in Auchterarder in Perthshire, with fundraising needed to make up at least 10 per cent of the costs.

Simon added: “By taking on the Big Step Challenge you’ll be supporting a great cause and helping yourself get fitter as well.”
