Members encouraged to take part in financial wellbeing survey

7 November 2023

West Midlands Police Federation chair Rich Cooke is encouraging members to take part in a new survey on officers’ financial wellbeing.

Metfriendly has launched its third annual Police Family Finance Index survey, which aims to identify the financial challenges facing police officers.

It also aims to highlight the key themes to inform policy development, and to provide guidance for financial wellbeing support.

Rich said: “We know that many of our members are struggling with the impact of the cost of living crisis and the real-time cut in their wages over the past decade.

“I’d encourage members to take the time to fill in this survey, which will help paint a picture of the challenges they’re facing.

“It will also help us make a difference in our campaign for improved wages and a fairer pay mechanism.”

The survey is open to serving and retired police officers and staff, and eligible respondents will be entered into a prize draw to win one of ten £100 Amazon gift cards.

Martin Bellingham, Metfriendly’s membership support director, said: “With wellbeing levels across the police family being severely impacted by the cost of living crisis, this research will help inform all involved in police wellbeing to get a better understanding of the current situation and how it has changed over time.”

The Police Family Finance Index survey is open now.

A financial services provider to the police service, Metfriendly is also sponsor of West Midlands Police Federation Bravery Awards, which will celebrate the dedication and commitment of officers who go above and beyond the call of duty every day to serve and protect the public.

Any Federation member can nominate a colleague before the deadline at midnight on 30 November. Email westmidlandspf@polfed.org to request a nomination form from the branch.
