Your Federation magazine

2 February 2022

The latest edition of the West Midlands Police Federation magazine is out now with its regular mix of opinion, success stories and vital news and information from the branch and the Force.

The February/March issue highlights the current controversy around the Force’s position on Taser training for sergeants and the growing calls for a change in policy.

Branch chair Rich Cooke outlines the Federation’s campaign to get Taser training for all officers regardless of rank and there are interviews with frontline sergeants who discuss the impact of the policy on their work.

The magazine features profiles on new branch deputy chair Sam Hughes and new deputy secretary Chris “Sid” James and also introduces Reyhana Koser, a solicitor who has joined the Police Federation in-house legal team and will provide employment legal advice across all four branches in the Federation’s Region 3 – West Midlands, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and West Mercia.

There are articles on the crisis in roads policing, the West Midlands Police officer whose amazing work was recognised in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list and an appeal to find a stem-cell donor for the teenage daughter of a West Midlands detective.

There is also a fascinating article by Inspector Roy Teague who has teamed up with former detective John Hanson to write a book on police officers’ experiences with UFOs.
