Dust off your bikes and sign up for Back on the Beat challenge

8 April 2022

Fundraising cycle challenge Back on the Beat is returning and this year’s participants have the choice of three distances to choose from.

West Midlands Police Federation members are being urged to dust off their bikes and hop back on the saddle to raise money for the Police Treatment Centres (PTC).

This year’s event will be taking place on Saturday 14 May and riders can choose from either a 50km, 65km or 100km route.

Federation deputy chair Sam Hughes is urging members to consider taking part in the fundraiser.

She said: “This is the perfect opportunity for the police family to raise vital funds for charity while keeping active.

“The PTC continues to provide vital physical and psychological support for officers when they need it most. There’s never been a more important time to raise money for such a worthwhile cause.”

All routes for the event will start and finish at the PTC in St Andrews, Harrogate and those who sign up will get their registration fee back if they raise more than £100.

“You never know when you might need the PTC and the work they do really is fantastic,” added Sam.

“Whether you’re taking part in the 50km, 65km or 100km challenge, I’m encouraging as many members as possible to sign up for this year’s event. I know we have a lot of keen cyclists in the Force.”

The PTC charity, which has two centres, provides intensive physical and psychological treatment for injured police officers subscribing to the charity, with the aim to help them return to better health.
