Get Active Challenge will help Police Care UK

2 June 2021

Officers are being urged to sign up for this year’s Get Active Challenge to boost their own fitness and wellbeing and raise funds for a vital cause.
The month-long challenge, organised by Police Care UK, kicks off on 28 June and participants can get involved by doing any sort of physical activity from a 1km walk to running a marathon, swimming, a gym session, an exercise class or a bike ride.
They can then log their progress on the Get Active Challenge website or mobile apps.
Those that take part can raise funds as part of their challenge by setting up a Just Giving or Virgin Money Giving page and asking family, friends, colleagues and workplaces to sponsor them.
The money raised will go directly towards improving the lives of police officers injured or killed on duty, and their loved ones.
Everyone who takes up the Get Active Challenge will receive a special commemorative police challenge coin.
It costs £15 to sign up and half the entry fee will go straight to Police Care UK, the charity for serving and veteran police officers and staff, volunteers, and their families who have suffered any physical or psychological harm as a result of policing.
West Midlands Police Federation secretary Steve Grange urged members to get involved.
He said: “The Get Active Challenge is a great way for members to boost their fitness and wellbeing by getting a bit of extra exercise and at the same time raising much-needed funds for a cause which is close to all our hearts.
“People who get involved can do as much or as little as they please but it is a terrific idea and I would encourage as many people as possible to sign up and take part.”
