Co-Op free hot drinks offer

The central Co-op have kindly offered all on duty police officers free hot drinks at their stores. See below for full details;

When offering hot drinks to on duty Police Officers, we have three options available.

Option 1 – Free hot drinks using Canteen Facilities.

• Allow on duty Officers to make themselves a drink showing them the facilities available in the colleague canteen/rest area.

• If a colleague is available to support, offer to make the on duty officers a hot drink.

• The colleague consumption guide can be found later in this guide to support with processing tea, coffee, milk and sugar.

Option 2 – Free hot drinks from Costa/Insomnia machines.

• On duty officers can get themselves a drink from the machine making the till colleagues aware so the hot drink can be processed correctly.

Option 3 – Free hot drinks from Coffee Shops & Cafes.

• On duty officers can get themselves a drink from the coffee shop or café as a takeaway option or by sitting in the coffee shop or café to enjoy.

In our large community stores and where space permits in our local community stores, we have a great opportunity for police officers to use the space when out and about. They can use the space to not only enjoy their free drink but also to complete any admin work. Where we have community rooms available, this also gives the police an opportunity to engage with the local community.

By offering space in training rooms and offices, this not only allows stores to engage with local officers, but the presence of a uniformed police officer or a marked police car parked outside our stores or in our car parks, coffee shops & cafes can be a great deterrent for criminal activity reducing the number of thefts and keeping our colleagues safe. It also allows the local police to support and engage with the
local community.
