You were a beautiful soul, and still remain beautiful even on the other side. I will certainly miss you, although it's been a couple of years since we last met. You always portrayed an image of hope and possibility, as you always found a way to get through to people. Your love for your son was always paramount when we met for coffee or a quick catch-up, and I hope before your departure that you finally accepted that you were indeed an excellent and loving mother to him. Obviously, your nearest and dearest will miss you most, not least your son. But I sincerely hope that even in the midst of sadness and grief, that your son and the rest of your beautiful family will find the peace of God that transcends all understanding, as however much we all try, only He can comfort them in this difficult time. Thank you for being such an ambassador for Humberside Police, setting an example for others to follow. I do hope you are not only remembered in our hearts, but that the Force finds other tangible ways to remember you and adopt your spirit and values, as I certainly will advocate for that. This is sent with love from the heart.
- David Ita

PC Sharon Houfe MBE was one of the most likeable and positive police officers I have ever met. Wonderfully non-judgemental, diplomatic at all times when dealing with the public. I met her at various community events and she demonstrated a face of the police in Hull which epitomised the essence of non discrimination and always had time to listen and have a chat. She will be greatly missed especially by the BME community which she supported. I wish sincere condolences to her family and colleagues and hope her example will serve as a model for future community representatives in the police force. May she rest in peace and love.

This tragedy has brought such sadness on all my family. Sharon was a family friend. I remember going to a theme park with her when I was very young and been too scared to go on a ride called the rat ride. So Sharon got me a plastic rat. I carried it round with me all day. I still have it to this day. RIP Sharon you were such an amazing person. Sweet dreams XXX

I have not seen Sharon since my retirement, almost six years ago, but I can still vividly picture her warm smile and friendly manner each time we ever met. Whilst we had never worked together our roles passed quite often and she was always a real pleasure to stop and chat with, I held her in high esteem and had the greatest respect for her professionally. I am sure she will be sadly missed by all who knew her and guess her engaging personality has touched the hearts of many people over the years. My heartfelt condolences go out to her family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time.

Sharon, such a loss. Over 30 years I met many on numerous occasions whose name or face are now forgotten to me. I met you probably a dozen times toward the end of my time in Humberside - and your enthusiasm, commitment and vivacity had such an impact that you are not one I could forget..... that's the sort of impression you made on others, You truly made the most of the saying "you only get one chance to make a good first impression".
- JPS
As a newly promoted Inspector in 1990/1991 I took over my first ever team which was B Relief at Bransholme. Young Sharon was a member of this close-knit team and the thing I vividly remembered about her was her bubbly personality and a smile that literally just lit up the room like the sun. I am lucky as I have a very sentimental photograph of this awesome team but more importantly it includes this amazing and never to be forgotten person called young Sharon Houfe who was a role model to her peers and an ambassador for the Humberside Police!! RIP Sharon x
- Richard De Lisle
Although it's many years since I have seen Sharon I am shocked and saddened to the point of tears. I remember Sharon as a recruit who stood out as someone with something special about her where her smile, compassion, warmth and friendliness radiated. She was truly a wonderful person and a dedicated officer. She was always upbeat, no matter what. Her memory will live on in the lives of those she touched.
- Rick Hall
Right from the early days on B Relief at Bransholme, the poster girl on the trolleys at Humberside Airport and latterly your community work, you lit them all up with your lovely smile, warm nature and infectious laugh. Wonderful memories working alongside you Shazza xx

Such a sad loss. Sharon was a truly caring lady who offered love and support to our LGBT community wherever she could. I will remember fondly when she came and trained our staff at Fuel and the time she came for the annual MESMAC celebration event in Leeds. But also the "evening all" she would always give at the LGBT Forum meetings. As a human being, an inspiration to us all - who will be sorely missed. Our sincere condolences to her family. Much love. Xx

You were truly inspirational and Hull is going to be a poorer place without you xx

- Laurie Gibbins
Just came across the news that police officer Sharon Houfe MBE has passed away. I'm genuinely in big shock. I had no reason to know if she was ill or anything was wrong, but I'm so sad to hear this woman is not with us anymore. I have had the absolute pleasure of working with her throughout Hull Refugee Week over many years, sharing meetings with her around supporting LGBT, hate crime, anti-racism and any kind of oppression. When we marched the streets to fight war, islamaphobia, love music hate racism campaigns, celebrate Kurdish culture, and generally being good people trying to fight oppression, this woman always represented the police in the most sincere, supportive and pro-active way. She brought communities together in a way only she could. Her impact on our community has been so inspirational to me. This women genuinely restored my faith in the police, and people in general. I can't say how amazing she was. Genuinely traumatised by her passing.. Hull has really lost a true legend. HOOF HOOF HOOF!!! Love you xx
