Derbyshire Police Federation

Fed chair encourages members to have their say by attending online conference

5 October 2023

Derbyshire Police Federation chair Tony Wetton is encouraging members to contribute to the future of policing by being part of this year’s annual conference.

The Police Federation of England Wales (PFEW) conference takes place online on Tuesday 10 October and Wednesday 11 October.

The conference will be a mix of live broadcasts and pre-recorded presentations from senior Federation officials as well as experts in policing, Government, and the Home Office.

Tony said: “I’d encourage as many of our members as possible to register for conference and take the chance to be part of it.

“This is your Federation and conference is a chance to contribute to the discussions on issues affecting you and your role, but also to set the priorities for the Federation going forward and to shape the future of policing.

“It’s being held online this year, which should give more members the chance to get involved and have their say.”

The conference will be hosted by Talk TV presenter Ian Collins.

The day one agenda includes discussions on leadership in policing, Home Office review impact on independent panels, and disclosure and redaction, as well as retirement, misogyny, and Mutual Aid.

Industrial rights and wellbeing will be explored on day two when there will be a keynote address from PFEW chair Steve Hartshorn and a Q&A panel session.

The conference will also recognise outstanding contributions to policing through the presentation of awards for excellence in roads policing, detectives, and women in policing.
