Derbyshire Police Federation

Federation Rules and Regulations

The Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) is governed by a set of rules and regulations agreed by the Government.

These were overhauled in 2017 following major change within the organisation after an Independent Review, the recommendations from which were published in 2014 and adopted in full by the Federation. The review, commissioned by the Federation itself, aimed to modernise and professionalise the organisation by:

  • Improving standards of conduct and integrity
  • Introducing better financial management
  • Transforming election procedures, and
  • Improving representation from under-represented groups.

The rules are approved by the Home Secretary and linked to the regulations which are law and approved by Parliament.
