Holiday Homes for Rest, Recuperation & Short Breaks
Our holiday homes are primarily intended to provide rest and recuperation for police officers experiencing significant distress as a result of critical incidents, assaults, or the personal and family impact of policing. (Eligibility criteria apply – see below.)
In addition, the homes are available for short breaks at discounted rates for Federated members seeking time away to relax and recharge.
Booking Information
- Serving police officers who are Federation members can book:
- 4-night stays (Monday to Friday), or
- 3-night stays (Friday to Monday)
- Retired members of the Group Insurance Scheme can book during selected months:
March, May, June, and September to December (excluding school holidays) for Kelling Heath , and additionally Jan & Feb for Aysgarth
- One visit only is permitted to either home per 12 month period. If both members are Federated subscribers then the family is only permitted to one visit in any 12 month period. Members cannot book separately in an attempt to receive multiple visits per year.
Accommodation Details
Both holiday homes comfortably sleep up to 6 people, and include:
- A main double bedroom with en-suite
- A twin bedroom with two single beds
- A family bathroom
- A double sofa bed in the living area
- Free Wi-Fi
Enjoy a peaceful and supportive environment, ideal for recovery or a well-earned break on the beautiful Norfolk coast or Yorkshire Dales
Dog Friendly
A maximum of 2 well-behaved dogs are allowed to stay at both homes. There will be a £10 per dog extra charge per stay and strict rules apply - see terms & conditions below

* Example of discount : For a 3 night break in June 2026 booking direct with Kelling Heath ( including the fitness pass ) will cost £709. For the same break at Aysgarth in June 2026 booking direct with the park will cost £749

A “Welfare break” will be defined as the following:
- A serving Officer who has been seriously injured as a result of an injury on duty (Physical or Psychological)
- A serving Officer who has been bereaved by a close family member as defined by Parent, Spouse, Cohabiting Partner or Child in the last 12 months
- A serving Officer who is ill themselves, or has an unwell child or partner, and that illness has a significant impact on their daily life.
- A serving Officer who has faced a particularly traumatic event or incident and deemed to require a break.
- A serving Officer who has been subject to a gross misconduct investigation (example being a prolonged IOPC investigation or criminal matter for which they were found no case to answer) this will have been in the last 12 months.
Officers cannot refer themselves for a free welfare break. The recommendation must come through a Police Federation Rep, their SMT, or a member of the Chief Officer team. The nominee must be a member of the Federation and the Group Insurance scheme.
