Gwent Police Federation

PFEW Annual Conference 2023: Fed chair encourages members to register for event

6 October 2023

Gwent Police Federation chair Matthew Candy is encouraging members to contribute to the future of policing by being part of this year’s Annual Conference.

The Police Federation of England Wales (PFEW) conference will be taking place online across Tuesday (10 October) and Wednesday (11 October).

The conference, hosted by Talk TV presenter Ian Collins, will be a mix of live broadcasts and pre-recorded presentations from senior Federation officials as well as experts in policing, Government, and the Home Office.

Matthew said: “The annual PFEW conference provides a unique opportunity for members to have their say on matters that affect them and their role. As your Federation, it is imperative that as many members as possible attend, and with the conference being online this year it should be easier to take part.

“In addition to the insights and recognitions that will be shared during the conference, members will also learn about the priorities for the Federation going forward that will ultimately shape the future of policing.”

The conference will recognise outstanding contributions to policing through the presentation of awards for excellence in roads policing, detectives, and women in policing.

Day one of the agenda includes discussions on leadership in policing, Home Office review impact on independent panels, and disclosure and redaction, as well as retirement, misogyny, and Mutual Aid.

Industrial rights and wellbeing will be explored on day two when there will be a keynote address from PFEW chair Steve Hartshorn and a Q&A panel session.
