Christmas and New Year Message for Members from Lee Sims, Chair of Humberside Police Federation

“Christmas and New Year are no holiday for many police officers.

“This time of year sees us reflect on what has gone before - at the end of what has been another really busy year.

“This year we have seen Humberside Police officers commit to mutual aid for the Commonwealth Games and the Queen’s funeral – and the Federation were pleased to be able to support colleagues at both events.

“Our new welfare van – providing hard working Humberside Police officers and staff with a much-needed space to rest, shelter and get hot food and a drink when they’re policing major incidents also launched.

“We saw a fantastic celebration of brave Officers at National Bravery Awards in July – including our colleagues PC Gary Kendrew, PC Harry Taylor, PC Zach Meadows and PC Chris Grady.

“It would also be remiss of me not to thank all Officers for their commitment with regards to Humberside receiving outstanding grades from the HMICFRS.

“Unfortunately despite all this fantastic work, Police Officers are still being underpaid and undervalued by our Government - especially with inflation as it is and the cost of living crisis.

“This is something that needs to rectified – fast. And we in Humberside will continue to support the National Federation around its continuing work to achieve better pay and conditions for colleagues.

“As we look to next year, The Federation will continue with our campaigns to support Officers and work closely with the Force to achieve this.

“Finally, I’d like to thank all the Federation Reps for their hard work. Thanks to all colleagues working at this time of year. Stay safe and if you need any assistance over the festive period, please contact the Federation.

“Humberside Police Federation would like to wish everyone a happy and safe Christmas and a fantastic New Year.”
