World Health Day: Free guide created to help officers improve wellbeing

7 April 2021

A useful guide bursting with techniques on how to improve wellbeing has been created for officers.

Federation members are being encouraged to take a look at the guide, which looks at both physical and mental health.

Its launch coincides with World Health Day, an annual event which falls on 7 April and is organised by the World Health Organisation.

Humberside Police Federation chair Lee Sims said: “Life can get so busy, it’s understandable that taking care of our mental and physical health can become less of a priority.

“After the year we’ve had though, it’s more important than ever for people to take time to focus on their wellbeing.

“I would encourage all officers to read this guide. Even if they don’t necessarily feel they need the support themselves, it might help them support those close to them.”

Created by Police Mutual, the guide looks at how officers can take better care of themselves including getting more sleep, changing their diet and reviewing their finances.

Plus, with the campaign falling during Stress Awareness Month, the guide also includes information on how stress can impact our wellbeing.

Police Mutual offers financial and wellbeing support to serving and retired officers, as well as their families.
