Stay with the PTC in retirement

28 June 2021

Did you know that for 65p a month you can access the Police Treatment Centres (PTC) in retirement?

If you’re approaching retirement you can find out how to continue accessing the centres’ services in a series of online sessions.

The events are aimed at officers who are due to retire in the next six months to help them remain eligible for the Police Treatment Centres and the St George’s Police Children Trust.

The first two sessions are being held on Friday 30 July at 10am and 3.30pm, followed by Friday 24 September (10am and 3.30pm) and Friday 26 November (10am and 3.30pm).

Humberside Police Federation secretary Rob Grunner said: “The Police Treatment Centres offer fantastic value for money and peace of mind that they’re there to support you when you need them.

“However, not every officer knows that they’re also there for you in retirement. This is why they’re holding these online sessions, to give officers approaching retirement age all the information they need to continue accessing their services.

“To have the knowledge the centres are there for you in retirement will be a comfort to many,” he added.

Email fundraising@thepolicetreatmentcentres.org with your name, retirement date and preferred session time and date to register. A Microsoft Teams invite will be emailed to you the week before the event.

The Police Treatment Centres is a charity which provides treatment and support, including intensive, police-specific, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, for injured and ill police officers and retired officers.

It provides two treatment centres at St Andrews, in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, and Castlebrae in Auchterarder, Perthshire.

Almost 4,000 serving and retired officers attend the treatment centres each year and most receive intensive physiotherapy. Others seek support with stress-related conditions or anxiety and depression as part of the charity’s psychological wellbeing programme.

The St George’s Police Children Trust charity aims to support police families by helping ease the financial pressures of bringing up children in the face of life-changing circumstances.
