Humberside Police Federation

Online service for memorial day

10 August 2020

The National Police Memorial Day service will be held online this year to ensure that fallen officers and their families can still be honoured and remembered.

The service will be held on Sunday 27 September at 3pm.

The website streaming the service will also be hosting a tribute wall where you can share your memories and photos or leave condolence messages.

“Along with so many other events this year, the annual National Police Memorial Day service, which was due to be held in Lincoln on Sunday 27 September has had to be cancelled,” says Pete Musgrave, chair of Humberside Police Federation.

“However, this virtual event will allow us all to honour fallen officers and also show their families that their sacrifice has not been forgotten. I hope as many people as possible will take the opportunity to watch the service online and remember those officers who paid the ultimate price while serving their communities.

“The tribute wall also provides people with a way of remembering officers and paying their respects.”

To access the service, you will be asked to provide your name and email address.

National Police Memorial Day was first held in 2004 and has been held at the end of September each year since. It rotates around England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Federation representatives, chief officers and the Home Secretary usually join the families of fallen officers at the service and the Prince of Wales, patron of the National Police Memorial Day charity, often attends.
