Men’s Health Week: put your wellbeing in focus

15 June 2020

Men’s Health Week is a chance for members to focus on their wellbeing, says Humberside Police Federation chair Pete Musgrave.

The week – which runs from today until Sunday (21 June) – aims to raise awareness of a wide range of health issues that disproportionately affect men. This year’s theme is Take Action on Covid-19.

Pete said: “Our members have really stepped up during the pandemic and have put themselves in harm’s way to protect the public and the NHS. So, while the past few months have shown the very best of policing, that doesn’t come without consequences.

“The pandemic is having a profound effect on us as a society, the whole way we live our lives has been affected and that will have impacted on our physical and mental wellbeing.

“This is why we’re encouraging all members to use Men’s Health Week as an opportunity to focus on their health.”

The Police Mutual wellbeing team has produced a guide to Men’s Health Week, including tips to improve physical and mental health and signposts to support services.

Pete said: “The guide contains are some really interesting statistics as well as helpful tips for improving our physical and mental health. Please take the time to read it and see how you can take some small steps now that can have a big impact on your health and wellbeing in the future.”
