Memorial match will help policing charity

24 August 2021

A football match in memory of a police officer is being played later this year and to raise money for Police Care UK.

The game will honour Thames Valley officer Andrew Melton, who took his own life last year, and aims to raise awareness of suicides in policing.

Proceeds will go to Police Care UK, the charity for serving and veteran officers and staff, volunteers, and their families who have suffered any physical or psychological harm as a result of policing.

The match will be between a team of police officers and a team of family and friends and will be held at Ilkeston Town Football Club on Sunday 26 September.

Gates open at midday and the game kicks off at 2pm. Entrance is £3 adults and free for children.

Food and drink will be available, there will be a bouncy castle for children and a raffle, with prizes including gift vouchers, signed football shirts and boots, hampers, wine and chocolates.
