City of London Police Federation vow to cover any rise in Federation subscriptions on behalf of members

18 May 2022

City of London Police officers may not have to pay for a Federation subscription increase as the City of London Police Federation intends to cover any rise on behalf of members.

Federation subs will increase for the year 2022/23 in line with any police officer pay rise, it was revealed after a vote at the Police Federation of England and Wales annual conference.

The subs rise – and the police officer pay rise – is likely to kick in on 1 September.

But City of London Police Federation Chair Mike Reed said he was “hugely disappointed” with the decision at Conference.

He said: “Cops are struggling as it is at the moment and to ask them to go into their pockets to pay for the service they get isn’t right. Together with the Metropolitan Police Federation, we are looking to put a paper to our joint boards to cover that cost from our reserves so it doesn’t affect officers and their pay.”
