City of London Police Federation

Sejal Reed Sergeant

Fed Rep

Currently I’m a Sergeant. I work in the newly formed department of ‘professionalism’ mainly around Violence Against Women & Girls. I’ve been in policing since 2007 and worked within the City of London Police and also the Metropolitan Police. I’ve worked in various departments, from Communities and Partnerships to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau. I strongly believe in fairness and equality, and I think being in the Federation gives me a good platform to actually make a difference for people within this organisation. I think it’s important for members to be supported by fellow colleagues because we have a good understanding of the environment, the personalities, the politics and the rules, because they are unique in policing. It gives officers a bit of a support structure, which is on-hand and local rather than someone at the end of the phone somewhere or someone you don’t know. A friendly face is always good. I am deputy lead for Health and Safety, and Welfare, but I also volunteered to be the City representative for things like promotion, retention and development. Because that’s at a national level, I can bring it back into force. So I’m excited about that. If members are concerned they should get in contact with us, have a chat, give us a phone, or send an email. We’ve all got lanyards now, so everyone should know who their Fed rep is. So just say hello and feel free to start a conversation.
