I am a detective sergeant. I joined the City of London Police in 2010 and I went on to Response for a couple of years. After that I went to Volume Crime, before going to specialise in fraud. I got promoted about two years ago and went back into uniform as sergeant in custody. I have moved back to fraud as a detective. I joined the Fed for the same reason I became a police officer, to help people when they need it and make sure everything is fair and that people are treated properly. It’s a hard job at times and especially at the moment when we seem to get a lot of negative publicity. I think that it’s nice that people at least feel supported at work and they’ve got people who have their backs and will look out for them. There are a lot of issues around equality, certainly those involving women. We’ve been doing a lot of work with women who have been on maternity leave and making sure that they’re looked after and supported.
