Our annual conference is back, and this year will focus on ‘Policing Under Pressure’.

The Police Federation of England and Wales’s (PFEW) flagship event is taking place virtually on 9 - 10 June, with top names from policing lined up to take part in thought-provoking sessions across a broad agenda.

The last year has been one like no other for policing, with officers across England and Wales facing increasingly stressful situations.

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic – including the threat of the virus being used as a weapon and policing mass demonstrations during a time of changing rules – added to the usual daily pressure officers face, means the past 12 months have left police officers feeling the heat.

Policing under pressure will be explored over the two-day event, through topics such as trial by media, pay and conditions and police recruitment in a pandemic under the microscope.

As with previous years, the conference will bring together practitioners, policy decision-makers and key policing stakeholders to debate and examine the top issues in policing today.  Delegates will have the opportunity to ask questions, participate in polls, attend keynote speeches, and listen-in to panel discussions in the online auditoriums and breakout rooms.

For the first time ever, the conference will also include a ‘virtual exhibition’: an online space where key policing partners will each have a virtual, interactive stand interactive stand. Attendees can navigate the exhibitors using the floorplan and either ‘drop by’ to speak to someone or arrange an online one-to-one meeting.

With more than 100 years’ history of representing, negotiating, and influencing on behalf of our 130,000-plus members, PFEW’s Annual Conference is a must attend for members, stakeholders, suppliers, charities, and associates of the police family.

Here is a short video message from PFEW’s National Chair, John Apter, on why the conference is a must-attend event.
