I recently posted the first in a series of interviews called CEO Direct where I will be answering the most pertinent questions to you.

It was important that this first video addressed the most challenging issue that we are facing now, and this is being clear to you about our actions following the Employment Tribunal Judgment.

Firstly, I wanted to set out that while it is not my decision to have a public inquiry or not, what I do know is that time is of the essence and that is why we are pushing ahead with the Independent Review.

This review is the start of our cultural reset, including our commitment to driving organisational change, improving professionalism, and fostering a positive environment within the Federation.

I expect it to cover leadership, culture, risk, governing bodies and outcomes of previous reviews. The full findings will be published in autumn this year and once we review our structures, we will be even more equipped to address these challenges.

In the meantime, we have recently conducted two Culture Assessment Surveys and have hosted eight focus groups covering the National Board, National Council, Fed reps, Branch Staff and HQ staff.

The questions asked ranged from whether different parts of the Federation work well together and if the respondents understood the aims of the Federation. The surveys and focus groups have gathered invaluable responses from across the organisation are part of our commitment to listen and better understand our culture.

I am due to present the results of this feedback to the board in coming weeks and I look forward to sharing learnings from the results in due course. Our focus with these initiatives is to understand how we work together with an emphasis on ethics, acceptable behaviour and professionalism. It is my aim to remove any type of discrimination or bias that may have existed in the past and create a new culture that is aligned to our values.

I intend for the Police Federation to be fit for the future, and I know we can be. It is my hope that our members will also use the resources to ask me the questions that matter to them so that I can address any concerns and showcase our move towards positive change.

Let me be perfectly clear. I take this role as CEO very seriously and am committed to developing a Federation that works for you as members. I will continue to listen to you and work closely with the National Board, National Council to bring appropriate cultural change and improvement.
