A fund-raising appeal set up to support injured West Midlands PC Gareth Phillips exceeded its £15,000 target within days of being launched.
Colleagues who launched the appeal wanted to raise £15,000 for Gareth and his family but the total now stands at £18,155 with donations still coming in.
On Saturday 10 August, Gareth was seriously injured after being run over as he tried to arrest a suspected car thief. He has already had two emergency operations and, at the time the fund-raising appeal was launched, was in intensive care.
He faces a very long road to recovery, which will include further operations and extensive rehabilitation but returned home in early September.
The JustGiving page states: “The support that Gareth and his family have received from the public has been overwhelming and they have taken great strength from this. Many thanks to everyone for your love and support.”
