Plans underway for conference

13 March 2019

Plans are now underway for this year’s Police Federation of England and Wales conference which is being held at Birmingham’s ICC in June.

Last year, Sajid Javid was only weeks into his new position as Home Secretary when he told delegates that he understood their frustrations and vowed to re-set the relationship between the Government and the police service.

“I am not really sure he has managed to do that,” says Rich Cooke, chair of West Midlands Police Federation, “I would say we remain to be convinced, particularly given that last year the Government once again failed to honour the pay review body’s recommendations on our pay award and also that we have no real signs of a re-investment in policing.

“We are awaiting the full conference agenda and the list of those attending but, if the Home Secretary does address members, I suspect he will be facing some tough questions.”

West Midlands Police Federation will send a delegation of representatives to the conference which is being held on 11 and 12 June.

We will publish the conference agenda on our website - polfed.org/westmids - as soon as it becomes available and full reports from conference will appear in the summer edition of our Federation magazine.
