Suffolk Police Federation

Winter 2024 branch magazine out now

9 December 2024

The Christmas edition of the Suffolk Police Federation magazine is available online now.

We meet Sergeant Laura Deal and Detective Constable Alan Humphrey, two of the branch’s newest workplace representatives.

Laura and Alan talk about their careers to date and discuss what inspired them to become reps.

Branch chair Darren Harris reflects on the past 12 months in his regular column and discusses the steps he took this year to look after his own mental health.

Darren and branch secretary Ben Hudson discuss the meetings they have been holding with local MPs on the pressing issues facing policing.

Front cover of Fed News, the magazine of Suffolk Police Federation. The cover features a star Christmas ornament on top of fairy lights with the words 'Season's greetings'.

With Christmas on the horizon, the magazine features a helpful FAQ on public holidays, time off in lieu, and rest days.

And as we approach the end of 2024, there’s a review of the year.

We hear from Kayleigh Mclean, who is juggling life as a mum of two and training to be a detective.

Assaults on officers

Workplace rep Temporary Inspector Ed Scott highlights the number of assaults on police officers and the work to support them.

A local businessman thanks armed officers for their understanding after they stopped him for unknowingly driving a stolen car.

There’s a feature on Flint House rehabilitation centre, the charity which provides bespoke state-of-the-art physical and mental health rehabilitation facilities.

Three serving officers tell their stories of how Flint House helped them on the road to recovery.

There’s also a feature on Suffolk Police Federation’s holiday lodge on the North Norfolk coast.

It’s all in Fed News, the magazine of Suffolk Police Federation, which is out now. Download for free.
