Pay and Morale Survey 2022 participant information

The survey is being conducted by Portland Communications on behalf of the Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW). Your responses will be used to represent your views on pay and conditions as well as your morale and welfare and will provide critical evidence on the situation for officers across England and Wales.

Data will be analysed and reported anonymously and will only be used for the purposes outlined above. PFEW is the designated data controller and Portland Communications is the designated data processor for this project and access to the dataset will be restricted to PFEW and Portland Communications staff. We ask you for some personal information within this survey which is categorised as special category data under the EU’s General Data Protection Regulations 2018 and sensitive personal data under the Data Protection Act 1998; including your information on disabilities, your ethnic origin, your sexual orientation, and your health and wellbeing.

The PFEW are interested in measuring officer attitudes towards the job, their pay and conditions, as well as their health and wellbeing, so that estimates of change can be made at aggregate levels. Personal data is collected to understand PFEW members’ views and experiences across different groups, any and all special category data you provide will be used for this purpose only.

The PFEW’s Pay and Morale survey is a panel design study, designed to track trends in members’ responses annually. This year, Portland Communications are collecting this data on behalf of PFEW. Once this data is collected, analysed and final reporting by Portland Communications is completed, Portland Communications will transfer the dataset to PFEW and securely delete the dataset from their system. There is no designated retention period of these data by PFEW. The retention period instead is determined by the continued use and reporting of the data by PFEW for the purposes set out above. The data will be securely deleted by PFEW as soon as this retention criterion is no longer met.

We collect and process the data you provide within this survey only with your explicit consent; this is the PFEW’s and Portland Communication’s legal basis for processing these data. You will be asked to provide your consent at the bottom of the page. You have a right to withdraw your consent.
