Nottinghamshire Police Federation chair Simon Riley is urging all members who want to put themselves forward to become workplace representatives to submit their nomination forms as soon as possible.
The nominations opened on 30 December and close on Friday (24 January).
“The Federation exists to represent the views of the membership, negotiate on their behalf and influence key decision-makers so it is critical that we have the right people in representative roles,” says Simon.
“If you have ever considered putting yourself forward to become a Federation rep, and you haven’t yet found out more about it or put in your nomination form, then now is the time to act. There are only a few days left.
“If you are still unsure, and want to find out more, please get in touch with the Federation office or the current workplace representatives who will be able to answer your questions.”
Members have been sent an email detailing the elections process, which runs until 1 October when the new National Board will be in place, and explaining how to submit a nomination and vote.
The Force’s constables, sergeants and inspecting ranks, as well as Specials, can stand in the local workplace representative elections.
Voting will take place between 3 and 23 February and the results will be announced on 27 February.
Successful local candidates automatically become part of the Nottinghamshire Police Federation Branch Council.
From the Branch Council, an executive - the Branch Board - is elected, including a chair, secretary and treasurer.
In addition to voting for local workplace representatives, members will be able to vote for their local branch chair in May and for the national chair during the summer.
