Leicestershire Police Federation

Moving on…

2 October 2018

As you may already be aware, I am now moving on from my position as chair of Leicestershire Police Federation, a role which I have thoroughly enjoyed, although it has, of course, brought a good deal of challenges.

That said, I believe I have achieved a great deal in my time as chair and remained committed to serving the members throughout my four years in post. I am particularly proud of my work within the Force in support of the national Federation’s Protect the Protectors campaign on officer assaults and, linked to this, the close liaison with the Force to design and introduce a spit guard that has been issued to front-line officers.

I have now joined the Police Federation of England and Wales’ National Board and want to build on what I have achieved at a local level to ensure we become truly representative of our members, negotiate effectively on their behalf and influence decision-makers including the Government and particularly the Home Office.

After years of reform in the wake of the independent review of the Federation, I believe the Federation is entering a new era and I am excited to be part of driving the organisation forward.

However, I remain a Leicestershire officer at my core and will continue to take a keen interest in all that happens within the Force. I wish my successor, Dave Stokes, all the best in his new role and will be working closely with him over the next few weeks to ensure a smooth hand-over.
