Leicestershire PCC no longer looking to change the name of Leicestershire Police after Federation spoke out against proposals

“Local people are quite clearly against the proposal and I will fully abide by their decision”

The Police and Crime Commissioner Rupert Matthews is no longer seeking to change the name of ‘Leicestershire Police’ to ‘Leicestershire and Rutland Police’.

Adam Commons, Chair of Leicestershire Police Federation, spoke out widely in the media against the proposals, saying it would be a complete waste of resources at a time when the force needs Cops, Tasers and other equipment.

Speaking today, Adam said: “The people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland have spoken in a resounding manner. I’m glad I raised the profile of the survey and gave it the larger platform and wider audience it deserved.”
