Hertfordshire Police Federation

Remembering PC Ronald Hull

21 November 2021

The chair of Hertfordshire Police Federation has paid tribute to PC Ronald Hull, who was killed by a speeding car on this day in 1989.

PC Hull (35) was helping an Army ambulance crew at the scene of a serious collision in thick fog in Royston when he was knocked down and killed by a driver who had ignored the road signs around the accident.

He had four children and his daughter, DC Katie Hull, has since followed him into the Force and wears the same collar number as her dad.

Federation chair Geoff Bardell said: “Police officers put themselves at risk every day and all too often pay the ultimate price, and their sacrifice, and that of their families, must never be forgotten.

“Today we pay tribute to PC Ronald Hull, who was a dedicated, professional and selfless officer in the best traditions of our police service.

“The thoughts of Hertfordshire Police Federation are with PC Hull and his family and friends.”
