Hertfordshire Police Federation

Roads policing under scrutiny

28 January 2020

Hertfordshire Police Federation workplace representative Gareth Rees is at the annual Roads Policing Conference today and tomorrow.

The conference will cover all the latest developments in roads policing and will allow officers from across England and Wales to get an update on plans to change the law to give police drivers better legal protection and find out more about the Home Office led review of roads policing.

It will be the 14th Roads Policing Conference hosted by the Police Federation of England and Wales and will include an address from policing minister Kit Malthouse. The event aims to bring together a range of speakers who work in or have specialist knowledge of aspects of roads policing, with talks, panels and break-out sessions.

It will highlight successes, challenges and best industry practice, and cover a wide range of roads policing topics including use of drones, consistency in driver training and SMART motorways.

The Outstanding Contribution to Roads Policing Award will be presented this evening (Tuesday 28 January) and will be given to an individual who has demonstrated an outstanding contribution in the field of roads policing in the capacity of strategic thinking, professional development or operational duties.
