Brave cop continues chase after thug smashes his head into concrete paving

PC Darren Jenkins had his nose broken and head smashed against a patio in a violent assault, before chasing down his attacker. His 18-year-old assailant had tried to escape through residential gardens after a moped crash. PC Jenkins found the youth hiding in some bushes and told him to come out, but the teenager started to punch the officer in the head. PC Jenkins’ body-worn camera flew off, and he hit his head on a garden patio. PC Jenkins refused to allow his injuries to stop him from arresting the teen. Unbelievably, the offender only received a six months’ prison sentence, suspended for 24 months and 200 hours unpaid work.

Metropolitan Police Federation Chair Ken Marsh said PC Jenkins had been incredibly courageous to withstand such a deliberate act which could have caused fatal injuries.
