PC crowned regional winner of National Police Bravery Awards 2023

We are extremely proud of PC Ryan Murley, who has been crowned the North East regional winner of this year’s National Police Bravery Awards.

Ryan single-handedly took on two dangerous suspects wanted for attempted murder in Stanley last October.

And last night he was recognised at an awards ceremony hosted by the Police Federation.

On receiving his award he said: “It feels unbelievable. It’s probably the proudest moment in my career and I don’t think it will ever be beat.

“I have said it many times since the incident, I was doing my job at the end of the day, but this is the recognition for it, and that’s fantastic.”
