Get Active and help a policing charity

14 January 2021

How about a challenge for 2021 to keep you active and support a police charity?

If that sounds appealing, sign up for this year’s Blue Light Get Active Challenge - the largest event of its kind.

Police Care UK, in combination with The Firefighters Charity, The Ambulance Staff Charity and The Children’s Air Ambulance, has launched the month-long fund-raising event which will run from 18 January to 14 February.

“There are some free places available for Get Active this year but people need to be quick,” said Tony Wetton, Derbyshire Police Federation chair.

“We’d love as many participants as possible signing up to back our national blue light charities who support the wellbeing of frontline personnel. It is also an opportunity to get moving and boost mental and physical health.”

Participants, who can join up until 13 February, are invited to walk, run, cycle, join an online class or simply dance around their kitchen to support their chosen charity. Mindfulness and ‘acts of kindness’ are added extras this year and can gain participants bonus points.

Funds raised for Police Care UK will help the charity address the unprecedented increase in demand over the last 10 months, particularly during the pandemic.

Tony added: “Everyone taking part will be able to see their progress on a leader board as the App has been upgraded and improved. We hope those taking part will feel good at a time when we all need a boost.”
