Have your say on pay and morale

Members are being urged to take part in the annual Police Federation pay and morale survey.

The findings of the survey are used as evidence in the annual submission to the Police Remuneration Review Body which advises the Government on officer pay.

“This is perhaps the most important survey to be carried out by the Police Federation each year,” says Tony Wetton, chair of Derbyshire Police Federation, “I would encourage every member to take the time to fill out the survey and have their say on police pay and morale.

“The more people who respond to the survey, the stronger the evidence we can submit to the Government and other stakeholders.”

Last year’s survey revealed:

75 per cent of Derbyshire respondents were dissatisfied with their overall remuneration, including pay and allowances
70 per cent felt they were worse off financially than they were five years ago
41 per cent reported worrying about the state of their finances every day or almost every day
8 per cent reported never or almost never having enough money to cover all their essentials
Almost half said their morale was low, and
62 per cent said they would not recommend joining the police to others.

The survey has been issued via the Federation’s National Member Database and will close at midnight on Friday 11 September.
