Members urged to complete Police Federation maternity survey

20 June 2022

Derbyshire Police Federation is urging female members who have undertaken a period of maternity leave within their policing career to take part in a unique survey.

The National Maternity Experiences Survey is designed to help researchers understand the experiences of police officers and staff across England and Wales.

The results will highlight what improvements need to be made and the best ways to support female officers when they are pregnant and returning to work after maternity leave.

Derbyshire branch secretary Kirsty Bunn said: “The Police Federation of England and Wales wants all police forces in the UK to set the bar and be at the forefront of supporting and enhancing provisions for women whilst they are pregnant and returning from maternity leave.

“So we are encouraging any of our members who have taken a period of maternity leave at any point in their policing career to take part in the National Maternity Experiences Survey.

“We are also asking the Force to send the survey to colleagues currently away on maternity leave so we can capture as much information as possible to inform this important piece of work.”

Members should receive a link to the survey in their inbox but should contact the Derbyshire Police Federation office if it fails to arrive.

The closing date for the survey is 8 July 2022.
