In the Calender years 2018 and  from 1.1.2019 until 22.07.2019

In  each of the questions 1 -3 below please give the total number of offences that each officer if any is facing in each of the offence groups listed  A-H

(A)All Theft Offences 

(B)All Sexual offences 

(C)All offences against the person ( including Murder) 

(D)All Public order offences

(E)Misconduct in Public office 

(F)All  Driving offences that (resulted in the death or serious injury of another whilst on duty)

(H) All Property offences including Arson

If there is any  doubt as to what offences I am asking please for provide details of any offence that can be heard in a Magistrates court or Crown court

1 How many officers are facing confirmed criminal proceedings as of the 22.07.2019 with there legal fees being paid for by the Police Federation

2 How many officers are facing confirmed criminal proceedings as at the 22.07.2019 with there legal fees NOT being paid for by the Police Federation.

3 How many officers are facing confirmed criminal proceedings which the Police Federation have no involvement in other than the fact they are aware of the proceedings

  • The Police Federation of England and Wales can confirm that between the period 1 January 2018 to 22 July 2019 we are funding, or have funded, 42 cases where officers face confirmed criminal proceedings.  From the categories provided above the breakdown of those 42 is as follows:

1 - (A)All Theft Offences

1 - (B)All Sexual offences

16 - (C)All offences against the person (including murder)

1 - (D)All Public order offences

3 - (E)Misconduct in Public office

12 - (F)All Driving offences that resulted in the death or serious injury of another whilst on duty

0 - (H) All Property offences including Arson

There are eight that would be classed as ‘Other’

  • Between the period 1 January 2018 to 22 July 2019 there are 40 cases which have been refused funding where officers face confirmed criminal proceedings. From the categories provided above the breakdown of those 40 is as follows:

16 - (B)All Sexual offences

2 -(C)All offences against the person (including murder)

0 - (D)All Public order offences

0 - (E)Misconduct in Public office

7 - (F)All Driving offences that resulted in the death or serious injury of another whilst on duty

0 - (H) All Property offences including Arson

There are 10 that would be classed as ‘Other’

  • We are not aware of any proceedings in which we are not involved.
