The launch of a new Communities First campaign is the highlight of the new edition of Leicestershire Police Federation’s Upbeat magazine.

The Federation is keen showcase the work of the often unsung heroes who work closely with the neighbourhoods they protect.

Chair Tiff Lynch explained why the campaign had been launched: “During 2018, we will be shining our own small spotlight on some of the officers who are ensuring that our community policing is effective.

“Those officers protect the communities they serve and go the extra mile to build relationships with the people in their neighbourhoods. We want to show that we all appreciate their efforts.”

Elsewhere in a packed edition which is available online or at various places around the Force, there is news on the welcome introduction of spit guards and the Federation's claim for a 3.4 per cent  pay rise for officers.
