Chair Dave Stokes outlines consequences of Government cuts

24 October 2018

The Police Federation of England and Wales has always made it obvious cuts have consequences.

And Leicestershire Police Federation chair Dave Stokes has clarified what those consequences are.

"Police chiefs have budgets and in policing most of the budget is allocated to paying for staff to keep the public safe and to tackle crime," he explains.

"Reduced funding equals reduced police officer numbers and reduced numbers equals a reduction in our capability to protect the public and to tackle crime.

"The Government will call my frank statement 'scaremongering', I call it a plea to the public to support us in making the Government see sense and keep us all safe."
