Police Federation officials representing officers from across England and Wales – our National Board and National Council – have met over the past two days to discuss important issues affecting our members, and top of that list has been pensions.
A new Government plan to ensure police officers’ wellbeing is protected has been launched.
The Home Office’s Front Line Review, which was announced by the Home Secretary Sajid Javid at the Police Federation’s National Conference last year, was designed to get views and opinions directly from front line officers and staff.

John Apter, National Chair of the Police Federation of England and Wales said: “Today we have received the decision of the Supreme Court which has refused the Government leave to appeal the decision of the Court of Appeal which had previously held the transitional pension arrangement for Firefighters and Judges were illegal on the grounds of age discrimination.
Four Leicestershire officers publically recognised for bravery at National awards
Four Leicestershire Police officers who fearlessly risked their own lives to try and rescue the occupants of a crashed helicopter outside Leicester City’s football stadium have been nominated for the National Police Bravery Awards.
