As stated in PFEW Blog on 21st December 2023 by National Federation Equality Lead, Ian Saunders Why are chiefs disregarding the new scientifically proven 3.7 fitness test level? (polfed.org)
The PFEW position is that to deny an officer who achieves 3.7 access to PPST training is potentially unlawful sex and / or age discrimination and that we will support any member in that situation to see if they have a claim against the force.
Surrey & Sussex Police do not agree with the position coming from the NPCC to not adopt the 3:7 Job Related Fitness Test for the new Public & Safety Training (PPST) as 3.7 is the scientifically proven level of the new PPST curriculum.
If any of our members should suffer any kind of detriment (not being provided with access to PPST after passing at 3.7; UPP or threat of UPP; bullying, intimidation or insinuation (unlawful harassment) by peers, managers or trainers relating to PPST) then PFEW will support them to see if they may have a claim under the Equality Act against their force and they are welcome to contact Surrey Federation on 01372 352165 or Sussex Federation on 01273 443681 to discuss their experience.
