ITN Productions unveils new PFEW film
19 April 2016
‘Policing for the Future’ will examine the challenges and demands shaping police service delivery today. Hosted by Natasha Kaplinsky, it will feature interviews with Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) National Chair Steve White and Leicestershire Federation Chair Tiffany Lynch. It will also include case studies with officers who are working in specialist areas, adapting to new technologies, using mobile data in the field, and being protected with advances in defensive kit. See a clip below:
The war on terror and police welfare issues are just two of the topics explored in a brand new news and current affairs-style programme being produced by the Federation and ITN Productions.
Highlights of ‘Policing for the Future’ will be unveiled Police Federation Annual Conference, 17-19 May 2016, with the full programme available shortly afterwards.
Steve White said: “By collaborating with ITN Productions, we will be raising awareness about some of the challenges being faced by today’s police officers, delivering a service which retains the confidence of the public. We’ll also be examining how we can attract and retain the best officers, and looking at the welfare issues and demands placed on our members in today’s fast-moving landscape, including new threats such as cybercrime and a heightened state of terror which previous generations simply did not have to contend with.”
Drawing upon ITN’s 60 year heritage and expertise in storytelling, ITN Productions reporters will look at how the service is responding to new challenges. Collaboration, neighbourhood policing and building relationships with communities remain key priorities in keeping members of the public safe. The news programme has not cost the Federation anything as it is paid for by sponsors.
Simon Shelley, Head of Industry News at ITN Productions, said: “ITN Productions is delighted to be partnering with the Police Federation, examining the way in which forces can deliver the best service to the community. We’re excited to engage with people and organisations who are dedicated to shaping a modern police force and supporting the valued officers within it.”
