Police Federation comment following guilty plea from PC Wallis

10 January 2014

Steve Williams, Chairman, Police Federation of England and Wales, says:

“The Police Federation notes the plea entered today by PC Wallis.

“Despite the high-profile nature of the case and the officer’s regrettable actions, one officer admitting one offence should not be allowed to undermine public confidence in the police service.

“There are nearly 130,000 police officers in England and Wales, the vast majority of whom conduct themselves with the utmost integrity and professionalism at all times, often risking their own safety in the interests of the general public and the communities they serve.

“We await the outcome of the pre-sentence report before making any further comment.”
