Federation response to volunteers in the police

Simon Reed, Vice-Chairman of the Police Federation of England and Wales says;

“We acknowledge that volunteers can fulfil a valuable support role to professionally trained police officers in the fight against crime.

“It is imperative that this role provides back room support and does not extend to law enforcement.

“We should not dilute police resilience but focus on recruitment, retention and development of the skills and experience of serving police officers.”
