Jan Berry quote re number
26 July 2007
“Even allowing for those that transferred to SOCA these statistics show a drop of nearly 300 police officers in the last year. What's very clear is that despite the growing workload on an already stretched thin blue line, there are no plans to increase officer numbers. Throughout the country we are already pushed to capacity fighting terrorism on all fronts and dealing with the ever increasing floods. On top of this, we're likely to be fighting the government for a fair pay deal, which is likely to result in more demoralised officers leaving the service.”
