Federation response to Conservative's plan to review multi-year pay deals

06 April 2009

Paul McKeever, Chairman, Police Federation of England and Wales says;

“We know that the Conservatives recognise and understand the unique position that police officers have in society.  Unique in terms of the huge demands placed on officers and the fact that they differ greatly from other public sector workers as they do not have full industrial rights.  We trust that, with this understanding, the Conservatives will honour any multi-year pay deal for police officers, if they are elected in its lifetime.  We meet regularly with the Conservative’s Home Affairs Team and it will be our priority to clarify the position on this.”
